  • CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on manual therapy designed to help release tensions, pain, and restrictions deep in the body to improve overall health and wellness. CST works with our natural healing processes to help relieve symptoms and discover root causes of dysfunctions within the body, mind and spirit.

“The CranioSacral system is a functioning physiological system composed of cerebrospinal fluid, the membranes that contain it, its osseous attachments, and the mechanisms that produce and reabsorb the cerebrospinal fluid. It has a powerful influence over the nervous, endocrine and immune systems, and a total-body effect. It is also characterized by a palpable, rhythmic, mobile activity that persists throughout life.”

Dr. John E. Upledger, Developer of CranioSacral Therapy

  • Adhesions that may be inhibiting the flow of CranioSacral Fluid (nourishing fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord to the sacrum and all corresponding nerve roots that connect to the whole body) may be released allowing the body to reset and heal.

Fascia is the body’s connective tissue that supports your muscles, joints and bones and keeps your internal organs in place. It is a multi-layered 3D web of varying densities made of collagen, elastin and a nutrient dense ground substance. The deep and strong fascia/membranes that encompass the brain and spinal cord are called “Meninges” and they are covered by the skull and vertebrae. All of our nerve roots exit through this system. If adhesions are inhibiting nerves, our body is affected. This can feel emotional as emotions can be “trapped” in the fascia.

The goal is to gently release deep fascial adhesions or restrictions that may block the flow in the body. If there are adhesions in your fascial system, your nerves, muscles, soft tissue and bones (including the skull) may not be able to move with freedom because they are “trapped” or inhibited. Fascia’s job is to bring support, elasticity, and provide nutrients to muscles, joints and bones. When you experience an accident or trauma (big or small), the body’s fascia will move to guard the affected area while it is healing by being a “bandaid”. Sometimes the fascia gets stuck being a bandaid and becomes an adhesion instead of stretching back out to its more elastic condition. This can happen when there is chronic pain and dysfunction issues in the body from trauma (physical or emotional) or repetitive movements. Opening up the CranioSacral System can allow your nervous system, muscles and soft tissue to be “free” again and help you feel better.
